A few weeks ago I was looking at my favorite blogs list on my blog and came across this lovely vintage Alfred Shaheen dress. The lovely ladies over at Violet Folklore Vintage on etsy were so nice in letting me have it! I fell in love with this amazing peacock printed 70s dress instantly. The fit was perfect and well this is the perfect Fall dress to my eyes.
We chose to go up on the Mount-Royal to take good shots of it because of the beautiful scenery and forest with many pathways. I haven't been up there in over 10 years! I was happy to not come across any snakes I am so scared of them, I run and scream when I see one. We also went up there to take photos of Montreal and show Stéphane's mom that Montreal is not a big bad city but a beautiful one full of great things to visit.
About the rest of my outfit, I am wearing a pair of 60s taupe leather laceup boots found at Flashback at Kensington market Toronto, Peacock blue tights from Ardene's and a vintage 70s double strap leather belt from a random vintage shop in Verdun Montreal.
Fall is here and I love it :)

On our first day of class the teacher made us sketch some silouhettes. I was a bit rusty but things are shapping up! I am trying to find my style but I think I found it... You can see it in these sketches from my sketch pad. I have a bunch more to draw over the weekend I will scan some more later and they should be more interesting.
So to get my creative juices going me and Stéphane went thrifting in St-Henri yesterday and took some pictures in the abandonned factories near there.

-Red skinny slacks, Thrifted Zara
-Shoes from UO
-Vintage doctors style bag, thrifted
-Cross stich pin, from The PinPals
Today was my first day back and all went well so far. I played around with this pattern making computer system called Modaris. There are a tons of new things to learn! Tomorrow is the more exciting class. It's called Recherche et conception, basicly it's a drawing class were you come up with design concepts. They give you a project to do and you work on that for weeks. I will know more about this tomorrow.
So we went to Toronto over the weekend... I don't have many pics since we forgot our clothes back home. All I had was a pair of jeans and tank, so not that interesting. I did manage to pick up 2 pairs of 60s gogo boots, the first pair are brown laceup's with heels and the second lime green Nancy Sinatra style ones. I also found a green and white wool 60s mini skirt. Stéphane really found more stuff then me but I am pretty picky when it comes to vintage shopping maybe thats why I have less stuff. We had a great time anyways I took a few candid shots of our trip and posted to my flickr.

I was inspired by the stormy weather for this oufit today. Ive been holding on to this crepe floral bustier dress since last year. I thrifted this lovely dress and I was suprised to see the tag saying Betsey Johnson. I got it for a steal 9.99$! The jersey black and white dress underneath is from H&M, it turned out to be a great layering piece. The black leggings from AA, vintage black leather ankle booties were thrifted, vintage brown leather belt I picked up a few years ago in this vintage shop in Verdun.

I will not complain about this heatwave that began last Tursday! It's great, atleast we got our taste of summer! I start school next week, oh my! Already. I am pretty excited,it's about time. I got my schedule, I had to move stuff around so I could work, I lost my class with my favorite pattern making teacher but got a pretty good one for the design classes. I wish I was rich I would go buy a new Fall wardrobe! I think I will make some Fall stuff myself if I find time. In the meantime I will enjoy this pretty weather and have a romantic weekend in Toronto this weekend!

I went thrifting with my man Stéphane and we found nuthin, it's been a pretty bad thriftin couple of weeks. It seems like nothing is interesting. I picked up some interesting pants but I am not quite sure how to wear them yet. With this heatwave pants are not my best friends right now. I decided to wear my favorite summer jumpsuit. I came across this lovely onepiece at Friperix on Pie-IX at the beginning of the summer. I actually wore it alot this summer but never got around to taking pics of it. It looks early 60s but it's actually 80s vintage. I love the peats on the bustline. The black T strap jelly's are also thrifted, they are the brand called Melissa from Spain.
All pics by Stéphane taken in the wonderful land of Villeray!
Have a nice weekend blog folk!

I decided to add a mini romantic collection to my etsy shop today. I am really into ruffles and bows latelly it seems. Maybe I spend to much time checking out blogs when I am home and not at work. The collection is mostly ruffle dresses and pastel water color shades all in nice light weight cotton's.
I think we are going on an other shopping trip to Toronto right before the fall semester. I really like the Kensington market! So does Stéphane :) It's the best for instant vintage joy!
Maybe something in this mini collection will tickle your fancy today...
Have a nice Sunday everyone

I used this amazing heart and flower printed Seersucker that Libemarlene sent to me in a swap package a few years ago. It was perfect for the pattern! I paired the jumpsuit with some colorful peacock blue leggings and a matching belt. The accesories are brown neutrals since the rest of the oufit was pretty bright.
All pics by Stéphane!

It's been a crazy summer for me! I moved and alot of things changed in my life. The past few months were hard on my creativity. My last semester seemed to be more geared towards my classes that have nothing to do with fashion design classes. I kind of have this feeling of fear, of not having insperations. I have been looking at alot of fashion history books and analyzing details. I came across these french illustrations from 1938, in this book called Fashion. Published in 2003, by L'aventurine who put this lovely little book together. It is translated in 4 languages, English, French, German and Russian. I was taken away by all the details from the 1938 collection. I don't generally really like 30s stuff but the details here are amazing. They seem even ahead of their time!
I plan to make a mini collection inspired by all the amazing details found in these dresses, skirts and blouses. I start school on the 24th, I cannot wait to really start this harder part of my fashion design education, there are so many things I wanna know about and know how to do! Next year I actually make a mini collection, now that will be a great amazing chalenge! I am sure many hours of sweat and tears are to come!
I hope you get inspired by these illustrations I wanted to share with you all!

I recently discovered this band from The Netherlands called Shocking Blue, they do the original version of the Famous song "Venus". We picked up there first album at are favorite record store and were blown away by all the great psyche tunes and of course the haunting voice of the lead singer Mariska Veres. Of course I was taken away by her mysterious 60s look!
Here are some photos I found of her :
If you never hurd of this band and dig 60s stuff this is a must! With all of this in a whirlwind in my mind I was inspired to put together today's colorful outfit. I baught this lovely 60s psychedelic two piece on etsy back in the winter. The price was great and I knew it would come in handy sometime this summer. My Jackie O style shades are vintage Italian shades that Stéphane picked up for me on a thrifting adventure. They are in amazing condition! My white T strap sandals are from Winners and my red bag is a vintage 70s Dior satchel that I picked up years ago while thrifting, the red dangle earrings I picked up at a cheap jewlery stand in the metro.
